I am a cancer biologist with a deep-rooted passion for understanding how evolutionary forces shape cancer. My work focuses on cancer genetics and immunology, aiming to uncover vulnerabilities in cancers that can be therapeutically exploited.

CV

I studied Applied Biology at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal. From 2006 to 2010, I pursued my PhD at the Department of Pathology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in the Netherlands, focusing on the genetic and immunological aspects of colorectal cancers with DNA repair defects. Between 2010 and 2013, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, where I applied next-generation sequencing approaches to investigate the genetics of B-cell lymphomas. From 2014 to 2016, I returned to LUMC for a second postdoctoral position, aiming to decipher genetic predispositions in families with an unexplained high burden of cancer. Since 2016, I have established and been leading my own research group on Cancer Immunogenomics.
