Gynaecopathologist
Prof. dr.

Prof. dr. Tjalling Bosse is a pathologist with a special focus on Gynaecopathology at the Leiden University Medical Center. Since joining the LUMC in 2013, he has played a leading role in advancing molecular pathology and translational research in gynaecological cancers.

His work focuses on improving the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers through the integration of traditional pathology, molecular diagnostics, and emerging technologies. Through large international collaborations such as the PORTEC and RAINBO programs, his team has contributed to the development of molecular classifications that allow treatments to be individualized more precisely.

Prof. dr. Bosse is particularly interested in the potential of artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic accuracy, identify clinically relevant biomarkers, and support pathologists in making more personalized treatment decisions. His vision for the future of pathology is one in which human expertise, molecular technologies, and AI work together to deliver more accurate diagnoses and ultimately better outcomes and quality of life for patients with gynaecological cancers.
