The Gynecologic Cancer Pathology Research Group is a translational research team dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological cancers. We believe that every pathology diagnosis should do more than provide a disease label—it should provide clinically meaningful information that guides treatment decisions, identifies hereditary cancer syndromes, and predicts patient outcome.
Our research integrates molecular pathology, computational pathology, and translational oncology to discover, develop, and validate biomarkers that can be implemented in routine diagnostic practice. We work with large international clinical trial cohorts, including the PORTEC and RAINBO trials, as well as population-based and retrospective patient cohorts.
Our research is centred around three complementary themes:
- Molecular Pathology – improving diagnostic accuracy, molecular classification, and risk stratification through the integration of genomic and pathological biomarkers.
- Computational Pathology – developing interpretable artificial intelligence models that extract clinically relevant information from routine histopathology to improve diagnosis and predict prognosis and treatment response.
- Translational Oncology – identifying clinically actionable biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets to accelerate the implementation of precision medicine in gynecological cancer.
Our work has contributed to international advances in the diagnosis and management of endometrial and vulvar cancer and continues to bridge scientific discovery with routine patient care.
