Our group investigates how cancer cells, immune cells and the microbiome interact, and how this crosstalk shapes cancer across different stages of disease and cancer types. We are particularly interested in how these interactions influence the balance between tumor elimination and progression, from the earliest stages—when normal, dysplastic and malignant tissues coexist—to advanced disease. We also investigate how understanding and manipulating these interactions can enhance anti-tumor immunity. Combining tumor immunology, microbiology, spatial biology and multi-omics, we study these processes across molecular, cellular and tissue levels, with the ultimate goal of translating these insights into new strategies for cancer prevention, early intervention and treatment.
