The Department of Pathology at LUMC has a long-standing reputation as a leader in innovation, research, and education. We play a pivotal role in advancing pathology research and shaping clinical guidelines across a broad range of cancer types and are at the forefront of developing and implementing cutting-edge diagnostic procedures. The department is led by dr. Jos Bart, Head of the Department of Pathology, who oversees our clinical, research, and educational missions.
Our department conducts internationally recognized research—spanning basic, translational, and clinical domains—with a strong focus on cancer and renal diseases. At the same time, we are committed to delivering high-quality education and training to medical students, clinical fellows, and laboratory professionals.
Through close collaboration with other LUMC departments and international partners, and by integrating advanced technologies, we continuously strive to improve diagnostics, prognostication, and therapy—bringing scienctific discovery closer to the patient.
