Research

My research focuses on the interaction between the gut microbiome, its metabolites, and the immune system in the context of colorectal cancer. The gut microbiome and its metabolites are increasingly recognized as regulators of immune function and inflammation. Given the dual role of the immune system in cancer, both in supporting tumor growth through inflammation and in mediating anti-tumor responses, I am interested in understanding how the gut microbiome shapes immune responses and inflammatory processes that influence tumor development and progression.

Curriculum vitae

After completing my Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences at Utrecht University in 2023, I pursued my interest in cancer research by continuing with the Master's programme Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology. In October 2025, I joined the Cancer-Immune-Microbiome Group as a PhD candidate.
